Arya Kishor Mandal (AKM) is a special group within DAV Sanskriti School comprised of youth, ages fourteen and older (grade 9 and above).

The mission of the group is to engage in cultural networking, Seva and Shraddha programs as well as developing leadership skills. The group meets twice every month at Arya Samaj for meetings to learn more about topics of interest and on an average once a month for community service activities.

AKM youth interact closely with their peers, while reaffirming the Arya Sanskars. AKM activities include participation in Havan and various cultural programs such as Diwali, Holi, Republic Day, Gandhi Jayanti, Janmashthami, and Arya MahaSammelan, which boosts their appreciation of Indian customs and celebrations and enhances their understanding of Vedic culture and philosophy. At the same time, AKM engages with local community by participating in activities like ILEAD, Thanks giving Meals on Wheels as well as open dialogue sessions with youth from other religions. AKM fundraising activities include planning and organizing events such as Diwali Raffle and Spring Car Wash. AKM features an Annual Family Campout with and includes lots of fun, adventure and learning. AKM youth have also participated in community service trips to India – staying at Jeevan Prabhat, a shelter home supported by Arya Samaj and experiencing the lives of children living there. They have also interacted with multiple NGOs focused on rural innovation / development and education in impoverished communities.

Parent advisors oversee all activities of the members. Properly supervised and well organized social events enable AKM youth to have fun, make friends, raise funds for cherished causes and hone their organizational, management and leadership skills.

AKM youth are recognized through President’s Volunteer Service Awards based on their community service efforts and are also considered for nomination to the Posse Scholarship based on their active engagement, extra curricular activities and demonstrated and potential leadership.
